It surged an impressive 79 ranks, leaping from its previous position at 407 to a notable standing at 328 in 2024. This advancement places Delhi University in a prominent seventh place among Indian universities, a noteworthy climb from its ninth place last year.
Delhi University excels in many areas, including employment outcomes. With an astounding 96.0 and a global rating of 44, it highlights how highly employable its graduates are. Reasons Behind this Improvement of DU in QS World University Ranking
The University of Delhi’s vice-chancellor, Yogesh Singh, credited a concentrated effort to improve research quality for the university’s rise in rankings in QS World University Ranking 2025. He expressed delight and pride in the achievement, noting that DU’s ranking has steadily climbed over recent years, culminating in its top position for the past two years. Singh highlighted the significant role played by a focused approach to research, aided by the university’s designation as a public Institution of Eminence by the Government of India.
This recognition provided financial support for research, infrastructure enhancement, innovation, and post-doctoral fellowships, all of which contributed to a tangible improvement across the institution. Singh further underlined how crucial it is to hire a sizable number of faculty members to improve the university’s academic ranking. He underscored DU’s overall positive trajectory, evident in its performance within the ranking system.
Singh expressed his confidence in the future trajectory of Delhi University, emphasizing its alignment with the right direction. He noted the dedicated efforts of a sizable team comprising 400-500 individuals, tirelessly working day and night. Their collective focus extends beyond merely enhancing the quality of education to fostering research, innovation, and pioneering experiments. In Singh’s view, the university is poised for continuous improvement, with the forthcoming years promising even better rankings.
QS World University Ranking 2025
Once again, IIT Bombay has secured its prestigious position atop the Indian rankings. The institution has demonstrated remarkable progress, ascending from 149th place in 2024 to an impressive 118th in the 2025 rankings, marking a significant climb of 31 ranks. Following closely behind are IIT Delhi and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), maintaining their positions as second and third in India, respectively.
In the latest rankings, the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT-KGP) has made significant strides, securing the fourth position after climbing from 271 to 222. Following closely behind is IIT Madras, which saw an impressive ascent of 58 ranks, jumping from 285 to 227. This surge has propelled IIT Madras ahead of IIT Kanpur, which slipped to sixth place despite its improvement from 278 to 263 this year.
Occupying the fifth position is Delhi University, maintaining a strong presence in the rankings. Following them are the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR), Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG), and Anna University, securing the 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th ranks, respectively. These institutions continue to demonstrate their academic excellence and contribution to the education landscape in India.
