In June of the previous year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a speech at the centenary celebrations of Delhi University, emphasising the institution’s role in shaping a “Viksit Bharat” or developed India. During his address, he articulated that the overarching objective for Delhi University should be to contribute to the realisation of this vision.
The official guidelines outlined in the standard operating procedures for universities, accessible on Delhi University’s Viksit Bharat 2047 page, elaborate on the concept. They state that “Viksit Bharat@2047” represents the Government of India’s vision to transform the nation into a developed entity by the year 2047, coinciding with the 100th anniversary of its independence. The document encourages active involvement from the youth, underlining their pivotal role in achieving this ambitious goal.
Furthermore, the guidelines specify that the Department of Higher Education, within the Ministry of Education, will spearhead communication and outreach efforts related to “Viksit Bharat@2047.” This underscores the coordinated approach and leadership at the governmental level to ensure effective implementation of the vision for a developed India by 2047.
