The prestigious University of Delhi offers top-notch courses and programmes for the holistic development and growth of young minds. The numerous courses available in DU colleges and the Campus of Open Learning can be broadly divided into 3 categories, Academic, Vocational and Professional Courses after 12th, which can be applied by students of any stream.

Additionally, several certificate courses of 3 to 10 months provide hands-on knowledge and enhance individual skills. The professional courses after 12th and vocational programmes deliver practical knowledge on countless sectors such as Media, Business, office management, advertising, etc. Delhi University has been rated among the top-rated institutions to provide quality education in practical fields in India.

Professional Courses after Class 12 Humanities

Professional Courses in Humanities Stream

DU offers diverse choices of professional courses after 12th for Humanities stream.  Admission to these courses is subject to a valid score in the national-level entrance test CUET. These courses are a part of the UG academic curriculum, whose duration is generally 3 years and 5 years integrated.

These include:

BA Prog. (Advertising, Sales promotion and Sales Management + economics/mathematics/computer applications/philosophy/economics/Spanish)

A few colleges of DU provide this 3-year course as one of the extensive professional courses after 12th to impart hands-on knowledge of advertising, sales and marketing sectors to the students. In this programme, students must opt for additional subjects such as economics, mathematics, etc according to their preferences and availability in the college. Aditi Mahavidalaya College, Mata Sundri College, Delhi College of Arts and Commerce and Jesus & Mary College are among the few colleges that offer this course with annual fees of INR 31,965.

BA Prog. (Entrepreneurship and small business + geography/history/mathematics/ political science)

Kalindi College for Women and Daulat Ram College provide this exclusive course on entrepreneurship and knowledge of managing small businesses in the era when entrepreneur business is booming in India. It is a full-time course with a duration of 3 years, with total fees of INR 52,020. The median salary of students after this professional course after 12th can reach up to INR 5.5 Lakh according to the 2022 statistics.

BA prog. (Office Management and Secretarial Practices + Hindi/ Punjabi/Sanskrit/Economics)

The BA Program with a duration of 3 years,  impart constructive knowledge of working in the corporate sector through the skills of office management and secretarial practices. Along with the linguistic disciplines of Hindi, Punjabi and Sanskrit adds to the personality and intellectual development of the students. Aditi Mahavidalaya and Mata Sundri College for Women are among the few colleges that provide this opportunity for young minds to learn the office management system.

BA (Hons) Multimedia and Mass Communication 

BA (Hons) Multimedia and Mass Communication or BMMMC offers the practical knowledge and hands-on learning of broadcast production, news production, film making and advertising sectors. DU offers BMMMC and Journalism Hons as professional courses after 12th. Annual fees for these disciplines are around INR 22,000-80,000 depending upon the college.

Around 8 colleges of DU offer these courses for young minds to learn the mass communication and media aspects. Lady Shri Ram College, Kalindi College, Delhi School of Journalism and Indraprastha College for Women are among the few colleges that offer this course. Delhi University and other Universities provide a 3-year course of BA (H) Journalism and a 5-year integrated course of BMMMC as a widely known professional course after the humanities stream.

Bachelor of Vocational Studies (B.VOC.)

Delhi University offers a diverse course list of B.Voc. disciplines that can help in nurturing a growth mindset of young minds in the practical fields. These vocational programmes provide hands-on learning experience through seminars, special lectures, on-field workshops, etc.

Professional courses after 12th in b.voc are printing technology, web designing, health and management, retail management and IT, banking operations, software development, tourism and hospitality management.

Only 3 colleges in DU provide B.VOC. courses:

  • Ramanujan College
  • Kalindi College (W)
  • College of Vocational Studies 

Bachelor of Elementary Education (B. El. Ed.)

B. El. Ed. is a four-year integrated professional degree that aims to nurture graduates of high calibre in the field of elementary teacher education. The B.El.Ed.  programme was launched in the academic year of 1994-95. It was created to meet the growing demand for professionally qualified elementary school teachers.

The programme is designed to integrate the study of subject knowledge, human development, pedagogical knowledge, and communication skills. After graduating with a B.El.Ed. degree, students have the option to pursue both professional and academic paths.

Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Legislative Law (BA LLB)

Law is a highly conventional field to pursue after 12th in the Arts stream, moreover, it’s open for students of commerce and science streams. Students who want to build their career in Law can choose from various integrated or bachelor courses.

The Faculty of Law at Delhi University also offers a 3-year LLB course after undergraduate, whose selection is based on the DU LLB Entrance Test. Students can also opt for a 5-year integrated course of BA LLB offered by NLUs and other law colleges based on the CLAT examinations and other specific entrance tests.

Bachelor of  Fine Arts

Bachelor of Fine Arts is a 3-year undergraduate program that offers the study of Visual or Performing Arts. The course can also be referred to as Bachelor in Visual Arts (BVA) which Includes, Painting, Sculpture, Applied Art, Art History, Visual Communication, etc.

DU College of Arts emphasises the thorough study of art history in theory, practical studio work and research on the 6 Specialisations offered in this course. The Faculty members of Delhi University (BFA) are practising and have experience as artists, sculptors, painters, and graphic designers at the national as well as international levels.

Bachelor of Library and Information Science (B.Lib.I.Sc.) 

B.Lib.I.Sc. is a 1-year UG-level course offered by Delhi University after graduation. Applicants must meet the minimum of 50% aggregate marks in their graduation. The total no. of seats is 101. Today, large-scale libraries at college or state levels require qualified librarians to manage the work.

There are several professional courses available in this field that you can pursue to kickstart your career. Other than Delhi University, some more universities and institutes offer online/offline courses on library sciences.

Professional Courses after Class 12 Commerce

Professional Courses in Commerce Stream

Commerce is a wide multi-disciplinary stream, encompassing numerous Professional Courses after 12th commerce on various aspects of business, trade, accounting, financial information/transactions and merchandising.

This field is more practical than theoretical, students in the commerce stream can pursue management, finance and CA courses after their 12th examination. Some of the most popular Professional Courses for commerce students are:

Bachelor of Business Studies (BBS)

DU offers BBS and BBA, the Professional Courses after 12th Commerce that embody knowledge of Financial Investment analysis. There are only two colleges in DU that offer this college namely, Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies and Shaheed Rajguru College of Applied Sciences for Women.

After this course, one can apply to Human Resources Management, Digital Marketing, Entrepreneurship, MBA, Sales Executive, Business Development, Sales, Supply chain management, Consulting, Event management, Investment banking, Marketing Executive, Business Analyst, Civil Services, Data science management, Financial Accounting, Financial Manager, etc. Job opportunities.

Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS)

BMS is a well-known undergraduate programme for management studies at Delhi University. This as one of the DU’s professional courses after the 12th provides its students with needful skills assumed to be important in management at a wider range of organisations.

The disciplines allow students to develop deeper knowledge in specific areas of interest – finance, marketing, human resource management and management of the global business. Student-centred learning focuses on enabling lifelong learning and independent problem-solving skills.

Chartered Accountancy

Better known for its short form CA is a highly respectable career option in India. CA plays a crucial role in managing finance, for individuals businesses and governments. The CA professionals give financial expertise and ensure compliance with laws and regulations.

Chartered Accountants are required in various sectors such as business & industries, Chartered Accountancy firms, consultancy firms, capital market services, financial institutions, etc. CA courses include subjects like Taxation, Auditing, Accounting and Finance Management.

Digital Marketing

The rapid growth of the Digital Marketing industry is a direct result of the globalisation and development of the internet. The effectiveness of digital marketing in generating revenues as compared to traditional methods of advertising, offers Realistic Costs, Accurate customer targeting and Excellent analytical reporting. The program is for Freshers, Traditional Marketers, Entrepreneurs, Brand Communication Managers, and Sales Professionals.

Students can pursue digital marketing with a diploma, or certificate course in marketing management and social media marketing directly after the 12th. Professional Courses in Science Stream

Science students have many options to kickstart their career with professional courses after 12th. Students can self-explore, venture into disciplines and take up courses in these fields. Enrolling in professional courses can help students with science backgrounds to launch their careers rapidly.

Here is the list of India’s topmost opted Professional Courses after 12th science:-

Engineering

Engineering is one of the most opted conventional courses in India as a Professional Courses after 12th science. The course offers practical knowledge in various fields such as Civils, Electronics, Computer Sciences, Chemicals, Printing, Architecture and Mechanical.

Students can pursue this field with a diploma, certificate course or Degree. However, a B.Tech or B.E. degree are more preferred by the industry. Admission to prestigious Engineering Colleges like IITs and DTU  is based on the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE).  The offline courses are useful for gaining fundamental skills and competence in the engineering field.

Medicine and Health Science Course

The medicinal field is also one of the most prestigious and highly popular professional courses after 12th. Pharmacy, medicine and healthcare is an ever-growing field that offers a wide range of professions. Colleges in India offer both online and offline programmes in this field.

The most registered entrance exam for Bachelor in Medicine & Bachelor in Surgery (MBBS) and other medical courses is National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). Apart from the MBBS course of 5 years, Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharma), Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT), and B.Sc Nursing Diploma in Nutrition & Health Education are available professional courses after 12th in India.

MBBS counselling at the University of Delhi’s colleges is managed by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on behalf of the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). For MBBS admission in DU colleges,  passing the NEET examination is required.

IT and Software Courses

Information technology and software development is a dynamic field that is changing with digitization and rapid technological advancements. One can pursue diploma, degree and certificate courses soon after high school to gain professional and technological skills.

Courses such as Bachelor of Computer Application(BCA), Diploma in Computer Application and Web Development, Certificate course in C++ and Certificate course in Cyber Security are some of the popular courses in IT that can be pursued after 12th.

Delhi University also offers various computer science undergraduate courses, which can be pursued as a professional course after 12th:

  • B.Sc. (H) Computer Science

B.Sc Biotechnology

Delhi University and other national universities offer a 3-year biotechnology course after high school. It’s an interesting and professional work that includes practical and theoretical knowledge and includes both physics and science, courses offered by the Universities include B.E (Biotechnology), B.Sc.(Biotechnology), Certificate Course in Industrial Biotechnology, Certificate Course: Introductory Course on Biotechnology and Certificate Course:  Industrial Biotechnology, etc. Candidates can apply for these courses through CUET.

Architecture

These professional courses after 12th have minimum eligibility of only a 12th pass in any stream and students of UG and PG from all streams can apply for this course.

The classes can be both offline and online depending on the guidelines, certificates will be provided by the COL-DU.COL-DU will also provide practical training by industry experts and Internship & Placement Assistance.
