In its 1270th meeting, chaired by Vice-Chancellor Professor Yogesh Singh, Delhi University’s Executive Council accepted multiple important initiatives. The main decisions involved donating or distributing more than Rs 1.20 crore to 1669 students as financial help under the Financial Support Scheme (FSS). It also includes celebrating the participation of nine Delhi University students in the Paris Olympics. Olympic celebrations at DU will be organised gracefully, as 70 per cent of them are female.
Professor Singh declared the launch of an MTech in Computer Science programme and a BA (Honours) in the Russian language, beginning with the 2024–25 academic session. Moreover, Delhi University holds a notable spot at 328th in the QS Rankings 2025, proving a considerable hike compared to last year.
The council allowed raising the retirement and death gratuity to Rs 25 lakh and revising wages for part-time cleaning workers. Admissions for the academic year 2024–25 are in progress, with nearly 90 per cent of postgraduate seats fully occupied in three rounds.

9 Students From Delhi University Participating in the Paris Olympics
9 students who have studied at Delhi University will be part of the contingent representing India at the Paris Olympics. This is over double the number compared to four at the Tokyo Olympics, Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh claimed.
Out of 21 Indian players taking part in shooting at the Paris Olympics 2024, 11 are female, and six of them are DU students. This is the highest number for any sport at the university, stated Prof. Singh. Hence, the Olympic Celebrations at DU caught everyone’s eye.
Olympic celebrations at DU were absolutely valid because out of the 8 Indians who are taking part in table tennis, 4 are female, with one player from DU. He stated that he is hoping that all of them will play beautifully and win medals for the nation.
Dr. Anil Kumar Kalkal, director of the DU Sports Council, informed us that out of the nine players, Manu Bhaker, Amoj Jacob, and Manika Batra also took part in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Ramita Jindal is a third-year DU student pursuing a BCom (Hons) from Hansraj College. Rhythm Sangwan is a second-year student studying English (Hons) at Lady Shri Ram College. These are among those representing Delhi University, stated Dr. Kalkal.
Among the alimony of Delhi University, Shreyasi Singh studied at Hansraj College in 2012. Manu Bhaker completed her political science (Hons) degree from Lady Shri Ram College in 2022. Maheshwari Chauhan completed her philosophy (H) degree from Lady Shri Ram College in 2017. Rajeshwari Kumari pursued a BA at Sri Venkateshwara College in 2010, Dr. Kalkal informed.
Dr. Kalkal said that Manika Batra, playing in the table tennis category, was a sociology (H) student. She studied at Jesus and Mary College in 2016. Amoj Jacob, who will take part in athletics (4×400 metre relay), completed his degree in BCom from Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College in 2019. Moreover, Jaspal Rana, who will attend the Olympics as Manu Bhaker’s coach, graduated from Sri Aurobindo College.
