Best Practices

  • Respect the opinions and feelings of others, even if they differ from your own.
  • Be open-minded to new ideas and recognize that everyone is on a journey to discover who they are and what they believe.
  • Use “I” statements when communicating during class discussions or interactions with others, instead of making assumptions about how people feel.
  • Speak up respectfully if you disagree with someone or challenge someone’s opinion in a constructive way.
  • Foster an inclusive environment by actively engaging with your peers and valuing their perspectives without judgment or criticism.
  • Treat everyone fairly and support each other’s growth through positive dialogue and collaboration.
  • Encourage participation from everyone in the room, especially those who might be more reluctant to speak up due to shyness or fear of judgment/criticism from their peers.
