Delhi University completed its 100 years of existence on May 1st 2022. The university organised various events throughout the year marking a remarkable milestone.
The celebrations are now coming to an end, with the closing ceremony of the DU centenary scheduled to be hosted on June 30th, 2023. And the chief guest of the event is none other than the Honorable Prime Minister of our country, Mr Narendra Modi.
Du Centenary Celebrations
Delhi University was established in 1922 with St. Stephens College, Hindu College and Ramjas College, considered the oldest colleges of DU. DU was established through an “act of the central legislative assembly and is recognised as an Institute of Eminence by the University Grants Commission.”
Following the 100 years of DU, there are 91 colleges associated with it situated on 2 campuses around Delhi.
Beginning on May 1st 2022, the University organised various forms of celebrations for the centenary. New hostels are being constructed, as well as new technical courses such as B.Tech are to be added to the School Of Open Learning.
Plantation of 100 trees at 100 locations across the campuses had been planned following the 100 years of DU, as well as releasing documentaries related to the University and its History.
Throughout the year various events took place to mark the exceptional anniversary. Now the ceremony is coming to an end and the University is beginning to prepare for the closing ceremony of the DU Centenary.
The Honorable Prime Minister of India, Mr Narendra Modi has been invited as the chief guest to officiate the closing ceremony of the DU centenary.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to be the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the Delhi University centenary celebrations on June 30, officials said on Tuesday, 20th June 2023.
“The DU has decided to organise an event to mark the conclusion of the centenary celebrations,” the authorities of the university told PTI.
