About Hestia | Bharati College
Hestia’- the departmental society of Sociology at Bharati College came into existence in 2018.Hestia was a Greek Goddess who takes care of multiple aspects of society like hearth, economy, politics, architecture and the state. Like ways, the scope of the discipline of Sociology is widespread and it develops its connection with other fields such as historical, biological, economy, psychology, political science, literature and so on.The society aims to make a difference in the domain of learning where students organise events dwelling upon various issues from varied sociological perspectives. It stands for a place where thoughts and ideas originate. ‘Hestia’ creates the space for the students of the department to learn and well equip with the application of various sociological theories and concepts. Hestia society organized two annual fests in 2018 and 2019. The society is actively involved in organizing various events. like movie screening, competitions such as essay writing, quiz, debates and special lectures around varied themes and concepts relevant to sociological literature.
EVENTS:
- On 18th May 2020, the department organised its second webinar on “Gender and Politics Amidst COVID19 Pandemic: An Interactive Session’’ to understand the effects of Gender and Politics amidst COVID-19 by Dr. Subhra Nagalia, a faculty member at School of Human Studies, Ambedkar University, Delhi.
