The demolition of an 80-year-old hostel building at Hindu college took place on 14th October 2023. The Hindu College has initiated this significant demolition project of an 80-years-old building for the reconstruction of the boys’ hostel. The existing eight-decade-old hostel building has deteriorated over time, prompting the decision to replace it with a new construction. The hostel construction, which could hold a sufficient number of students, had been under consideration by the college administration. They aimed for the addition of two more stories. The college made the decision to demolish the outdated 80-years-old building and started an immediate reconstruction project as a result.

Furthermore, the administration had noticed the structural issues with the base of the building. After this the administration decided that further construction on this building was not appropriate. The principal of Hindu College, Prof. Anju Srivastava gave her statement to the news agency PTI (Press Trust of India). She talked about the demolition of an 80-year-old hostel building at Hindu college. She quoted that the dormitory structure, which has housed thousands of students over the course of its eight-decade existence, is not anymore strong enough to remain in its present shape.

The demolition of an 80-year-old hostel building at Hindu college intends to replace it with a new strong building. That building will be a stilted, four-story structure. By 2026, Hindu College hopes to have this project completed. The college will undoubtedly be able to accommodate the increasing number of candidates after this refurbishment. This rehabilitation project is an essential step in addressing the college’s expanding need for student housing.

According to Prof. Anju Srivastava’s information, the current setup is close to 80 years old and was not in great shape. She further said that the college appointed engineers to look at construction of the hostel. The team of engineers determined that it is not possible to build two more stories on this building. The outcomes demonstrated that the base was inadequate to hold this expansion. The hostel is consequently under a lot of strain. This prompts the governing body to decide to entirely refurbish the hostel. Hence, the demolition of an 80-year-old hostel building at Hindu college took place.

Conclusion

Administration took the decision for the demolition of an 80-year-old hostel building at Hindu college. The report claim that the public has not been able to reach the historic building in question since the outbreak of Covid-19. This suggests that the structure has been closed off to lessen the hazards associated with the pandemic. This is in line with the safety precautions that many institutions have had to implement during these challenging times.

The fact that some previous students have indicated a desire to remove rubbish from the dorm is intriguing to note in the narrative. They will save these items as priceless souvenirs to demonstrate their deep emotional attachment to the building. As they try to maintain a tangible piece of their past, this displays the building’s significance to prior residents and visitors in their memories and experiences.
