B.Ed course is the short form of Bachelor of Education, a professional coursework that provides students with the required skills and practice to become a primary or intermediate level school teacher. This training generally has a span of 2 years, after effectively finishing the coursework students qualify to become teachers. The B.Ed course offered by the B.Ed. Division is approved by the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) and affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), New Delhi.

One who wishes to become a school teacher for upper primary or middle level (classes VI-VIII), secondary level (classes IX-X) and senior secondary level (classes XI-XII) must have:-

  • Flexible and distinct pedagogy that leverages technology and instils the notion of lifelong learning.
  • The inculcation of ethical principles and understanding of societal and environmental realities.
  • Knowledge of education policies and school coursework. 

The B.Ed course provides a deeper understanding of the above objectives. A student must pass the B.Ed Entrance test to pursue a B.Ed course offered by several institutes in India such as Delhi University, Indraprastha University, etc. 

Eligibility Criteria for B. Ed Course

Aspiring candidates for the B.Ed course are required to fulfil these eligibility criteria for the 2-year course on a Regular or Non-Attending basis:-

  1. B.Ed is an undergraduate program, but it requires the candidates to have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in any stream, Science, Arts or Commerce. 
  2. Candidates must have scored at least 50% in their Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree. 
  3. Candidates with a background of Bachelor in Technology, specialization in Science and Maths with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto, are eligible for admission to the program. 

Admission Process for B. Ed Course

The admission to B.Ed course is dependent on the entrance examination conducted by the respective colleges /universities. The admission process at DU is now based on the CUET PG examination replacing the earlier  DU B.Ed Entrance Exam. Here is a further explanation of the process:-

Online Application Form

The admission process starts with the filling up of the DU B.Ed admission form from the official Delhi University site for DU B.Ed Admission 2024. Those students who wish to appear for State-level or other universities must visit their respective sites for form fill-up.

The candidate now needs to fill in all the information asked such as educational background and personal details and must attach all the documents required. 

After filling in the necessary details, submit the application form and pay the fees.

Document Required in the B.Ed  Course Admission Process

The candidates must attach all the necessary documents with their admission form.

The following are the important documents for the B.Ed admission form:-

  1. Recent photograph
  2. Date of Birth certificate ( 10th Board Marksheet) 
  3. Marksheet of graduation or post-graduation (as applicable)
  4. Caste certificate (if applicable)
  5. Sports certificate (if applicable)
  6. Valid ID proof (PAN Card, Aadhar Card, Voter ID, Driving License, Passport)

There are several state-level entrance examinations and universities’ self-conducted B.Ed Entrance tests. The most popular B.Ed Entrance Test, which aspirants are required to qualify to get admission in B.Ed course are:-
