“A bomb threat to Ram Lal Anand College was given over the call and the whole staff panicked.“
When staff members of Ram Lal Anand College received a call at 9:34 am on March 7, they found themselves in the centre of a troubling situation. The police and emergency personnel acted quickly in reaction to this concerning development, putting the pupils’ safety first and starting the evacuation procedure.
As of now, despite intensive searches, no suspicious objects or activity have been found. Understanding the incident, DCP South West Rohit Meena confirmed that the threat call was received at approximately 9:34 a.m. Law enforcement and emergency response teams work together to protect educational institutions, demonstrating how seriously these crises are taken and how crucial it is to guarantee their safety.
After the bomb threat to Ram Lal Anand College, grounds were quickly invaded by the police, ambulance services, Bomb Disposal Squads (BDS), and Bomb Disposal Teams (BDT) following an urgent alert, according to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP). As ANI stated, their main concern was the pupils’ evacuation. At present, thorough search and inspection procedures are underway. The DCP emphasised that, as of now, no suspicious items or activities have been identified, as reported by ANI.
An email threatening to blow up the Amity International School in Pushp Vihar was received last month. Nevertheless, no suspicious objects or activity were found on the property after an examination by the neighbourhood police and bomb-detecting team.
The bomb threat to Ram Lal Anand College is not a new incident. An email was also sent to the Delhi Public School, which is located in RK Puram, on February 2. In response, the school administration quickly left the area and began a comprehensive search. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest), Rohit Meena, stated that nothing unusual was found, even after a thorough search.
In September 2023, the Lal Bahadur Shastri School situated in RK Puram found itself at the centre of a distressing situation when an email warning of a bomb on the premises was received. Thankfully, subsequent investigations revealed the alarming message to be nothing more than a malicious hoax, providing a sigh of relief to the school community.
A similar occurrence happened in May 2023 when the Mathura Road location of Delhi Public School received a spooky email that made a bogus allegation that there was a bomb on the school property. Similar to the RK Puram case, extensive investigations proved the threat to be unfounded, allaying the worries and anxieties that had briefly taken hold of the institution.
Previous Incidents
Vilas Bakade, 42, was detained in Bengaluru on March 6th after he was allegedly threatening Akasa Air with a bomb. According to Mumbai police, as reported by PTI, his goal was apparently to postpone his wife’s trip because she had arrived at the airport late. Bakade had made special arrangements for his wife with Akasa Air’s customer service department. He allegedly resorted to saying there was a bomb on the flight after being told that he could not make such a concession.
A SpiceJet flight headed for Kolkata experienced a delay of more than five hours earlier on February 27. According to official sources cited by PTI, this delay was caused by a threat message that was received at the Delhi airport and indicated that passengers’ luggage contained explosives.
On February 19, Delhi Police detained a 20-year-old for phoney bomb threats at Indira Gandhi International Airport. This was another occurrence. DCP IGI Airport Usha Rangnani reported that the day before, a PCR call was received with the subject line, “I have planted a bomb on the airport grounds.”
In a separate incident the previous month, an email from one Balavant Desai to the Delhi High Court registrar general warned of an imminent blast in the national capital, claiming it would be the most significant explosion.
