Delhi University has recently unveiled a revamped design for its degrees. It is incorporating significant enhancements not seen in nearly a decade. The upgraded DU degrees will have safety features from 2024. These degrees will be conferred upon students graduating in February 2024 during the 100th convocation. DU degrees will have safety features including several novel elements aimed at enhancing security and personalization.

One noteworthy addition is the inclusion of the student’s photograph on the degree. Moreover, this step is to further authenticate and personalise the document. This visual identification element adds an extra layer of security. It aligns with contemporary practices to deter forgery and ensure the legitimacy of the degree.

Moreover, the mother of the graduate will now appear on the new degrees. This will add a more complete and unique portrayal of the graduate. This extra personal information not only honours the mother of the student but also gives the degree a unique touch. This will demonstrate the university’s dedication to honouring each graduate’s individuality.

The new DU degrees will have safety features to prevent fraudulent replication. This is a nod to the security features seen on banknotes. This proactive strategy aims to keep ahead of possible malpractices and preserve the integrity of the academic credentials awarded by Delhi University. Furthermore, it is in line with the changing landscape of document security.

Ajay Arora, OSD Examination, highlighted that there will be notable enhancements in the upcoming degree issuance. Notably, a colour photograph of the student will be there on the new degree, a novel addition absent in previous degrees. Additionally, the mother’s name will now appear in the degree, adding a personal touch to the documentation.

Arora further elaborated on the increased security measures, indicating a substantial rise from seven to approximately 18 features. Among these security enhancements, he mentioned the integration of text visible only under UV light, underscoring the commitment to fortifying the authenticity and integrity of the degrees issued. This concerted effort seeks to instil confidence in the credibility of the academic credentials bestowed upon students.

The DU degrees will have safety features that incorporate a QR code for authenticity verification. Upon scanning the QR code, individuals can ascertain the originality of the degree. This feature is reminiscent of security measures present on currency notes or checks, underscoring the meticulous design of the document. Notably, the responsibility for producing these degrees has been entrusted to firms with a proven track record in printing materials with such sophisticated security features, highlighting the commitment to ensuring the document’s integrity and preventing counterfeiting.

However, according to officials from Delhi University, the upcoming degrees have been set to transform in terms of material composition. The new degrees will be crafted from a durable combination of non-tearable polyethene, terephthalate, and polypropylene synthetic paper, boasting a substantial thickness of 280 microns. Notably, this material choice has been specifically designed to enhance the longevity and robustness of the degrees.

Arora stated that the design has a watermark, rubber protective features, rainbow printing, UV invisible ink, and several other characteristics. Arora claims that the Vice-Chancellor provided direction for this project. Additionally, the mother’s name and each student’s photo had added in the first alterations to honour and acknowledge “Naari Shakti,” or women’s empowerment. After then, this original concept developed, resulting in more design modifications and the incorporation of other security features.

Prototypes have developed for the procedure, which has lasted for about five months. These prototypes will be in front of the students shortly. The university is full of dedication for improving the security and uniqueness of the documents, and these enhancements are a reflection of the institution’s commitment to guaranteeing the legitimacy and integrity of the data they contain.
