The Mumbai University, earlier known as the University of Bombay, was established in 1857 under the Wood’s Despatch of 1854 and is one of the oldest and most prestigious educational institutions in India. It was renamed to its current name with the notification issued by the Government of Maharashtra in 1996. The University of Mumbai is a state public university accredited with ‘Five Star’ status by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). As of 2013 data, Mumbai University Admission was given to over 549,000 students in the 711 affiliated colleges.

Mumbai University Admission for 2024-25 has started for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. To seek admission to the university, one must start by filling out the application form on the official website of the participating colleges. The admission process is both merit and entrance-based, depending on the UG/PG/Diploma/Certificate course. The university takes into consideration multiple entrance tests for different courses such as CUET PG, CUCET, DUET, IPU CET, URATPG,etc.  The process will proceed with the issuance of the first, second, and third merit lists on the official websites of the participating colleges. The university will release its first merit list on 13 June 2024, the second merit list on 21 June 2024, and the third merit list on 28 June 2024.

The university offers over 200 UG, PG, diploma, doctoral, and certificate programs in several fields, such as Engineering, Science, and Arts. The university also offers education through distance learning from its Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL Mumbai University).For the academic year 2024, Mumbai University admission to BCA/BBA/BMS/BBM will be based on the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the Government of Maharashtra. 

As for BTech, BPharm, and BText programs, the university takes admission through the MHT CET entrance examination. For admission in BA, B.Sc, and B.Com, Mumbai University affiliated colleges will release first, second, and third merit lists based on marks secured by the aspirant in the 10+2 examination. The final selection is done through Mumbai University admission counselling based on scores obtained in the respective entrance examinations and merit basis.

Mumbai University Cut-Off 2024

The Mumbai University admission depends on the yearly cut-off that the college officially announces on their website. The admission cut-off can be different for different colleges affiliated with the Mumbai university. There are several factors affecting the Mumbai University Admission Cut-off such as No. of Applicants, difficulty level of examination, course opted, categories, no. of seats, colleges, etc. The Mumbai University will publish the MU merit list after the publication of three rounds of cutoff list.
