Everything in contemporary days has been influenced by the Entertainment Industry. The Bollywood fever has spread over through the entire array, from optimistic “apna time aayega” banners on the walls of our apartments to those trying to become quirky truck drivers carrying “has mat pagli pyaar ho jaega” at the back of their automobiles to discovering equal proportions in meme culture. How else could top universities like Delhi University escape bolly-vaporization in such a heritage?

Why is the college cliché so well-known?The Politics of “Privileged” CollegesThe FALSE equivalenceConclusion

Any fresher, particularly some who are already in the “desired” areas of DU, will likely describe themselves as lifting with overpower and wobbling with anxiousness while also feeling a boatload of expectation. Also, these anxious “fascias” are handed to freshmen parties with Bollywood themes, which are then accompanied by a barrage of Instagram reels that capture the entire incident. This is because the Bollywood bandwagon has permeated so deeply into campus culture.

Why is the college cliché so well-known?

Bollywood Day at Delhi University

University & Bollywood appear to have some kind of mutually beneficial relationship, that has found naturally its centre in the glamorization of the college experience.  The cliché of college life—from college bonds of friendship to college romance—has been so frequently used that it seems somewhat overused. However, it is one of the most popular categories, consistently raking in a massive sum of money at the box office.

The list continues on and on, starting with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) and continuing with Rang De Basanti (2006), 3 Idiots (2009), and most recently Chhichhore (2019). The film industry has been able to make a living off of our nostalgic memories thanks to the intended crowd’s shifting demographics.

We frequently crave the past, and undoubtedly, our favourite moments are of our time at university.  Admittedly, for almost everyone, college is when we have the majority of our “number ones” — including flings, disappointments, combats, or a variety of other memorable memories.  And through all these movies, we can relive the idiosyncrasies of college life.

The Politics of “Privileged” Colleges

We all adore and unquestionably feel a sense of pride when our colleagues make an appearance in our favourite movies. However, why do some DU colleges appear on television and others do not? Filmmakers typically use the North Campus when they shoot at DU. In specific, North Campus has seen an upsurge rise in the number of shoots over the past several years, going upto shoots to 12–15 shoots annually.

Filmmakers typically use the North Campus when they shoot at DU. In specific, North Campus has seen an upsurge in the number of shoots over the past several years, going from 3–4 shoots to 10–12 shoots annually. This may be related to the accessibility of authorizations. Many students are drawn to such North Campus shoots, which support Delhi University’s established college hierarchical system.

As per Ravi Sarin, who participated in the filming of the movie “Mom” at SRCC, “It’s the infrastructure of the campuses of North Campus that allures filmmakers,” as per an interview with The Times of India in 2018. The North Campus colleges’ enchanting red apartment blocks are a big draw for film producers. It gives the area a feeling of historical evidence by combining the old and the motion new, the previous and the present.

The FALSE equivalence

A false equivalence based on general expectations for good college days, a life, greater prospects, and relationships are frequently propagated by peers and the media. This anaphora, though, falls short of capturing the unglamorous complexities of DU, including its hectic schedules, demanding lecturers, tedious lectures, monopolistic tendencies, and daily metro snarls.

In Bollywood, universities are no less than amusement parks that must maintain an array of phoney pretences of awesomeness, fun, wealth, style, and other formulaic snazzy descriptors. In actuality, romantic slow scenes, wind ruffling hair, & background violin music won’t make you find love.

YouTube – The 3 Unknowns

Bollywood day celebrations are in trend in the college of Delhi University. Every college is celebrating its Bollywood day and rejuvenating the Bollywood culture. The dream life as shown in movies like “Students of the Year” is not the reality in DU colleges, yet students try to experience it on that one day. All the students dress up like their favourite Bollywood celebrities, enjoy and have fun.

Not only students, even the teachers are enjoying this which can be seen in the viral video where teacher’s of Delhi University on the song “jhume jo pathan”. It can completely show the craze of bollywood day at Delhi University.

Conclusion

We can therefore conclude that our dearly beloved DU (& campuses overall) have experienced a variety of roles over the years, including the protagonist, jester, elegant piece of material (quite like female protagonists in KJO movies), mischaracterized personality LGBTQ in Bollywood), & occasionally a Villon.

No doubt that it is among the most renowned and respectable universities in the nation. Just a small percentage of the thousands of applicants from around the world who submit applications every year are accepted. Enrolling in a DU college is so close to being a lifelong dream. Regarding education, a network of people, community, fest, or alumni, it is among the top Indian universities.

Also, the festivals and the new trends like Bollywood Day at Delhi University keep it enjoyable and energetic. Bollywood Day in DU has filled the students with great enthusiasm.
