On Saturday, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) unveiled an eleven-point manifesto ahead of the upcoming Delhi University Students’ Union elections. The ABVP manifesto for DUSU elections details the organisation’s primary objectives and makes commitments to improving campus life while addressing student concerns.

“My DU, My Manifesto” delineates essential domains of apprehension, including the university’s entrance protocols, campus facilities, assessments, and the necessity of career-orientated learning. It seeks to resolve these fundamental problems to enhance Delhi University’s educational program as a whole.

The ABVP manifesto for DUSU elections also stresses the significance of improving student safety measures on campus and creating a more effective grievance redressal system. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) claimed at a news conference that the manifesto represents the concerns and suggestions of thousands of students. The document’s main goals are to improve student welfare and create a supportive learning environment at Delhi University.

To streamline the cost structure for all degrees, the ABVP manifesto for DUSU elections proposes to implement a “One Course, One Fee” framework targeted at postgraduate students. It also highlights how crucial it is for all colleges to set up Internal Complaints Committees (ICC) to handle complaints and harassment-related concerns.

Putting up sizable job fairs to increase student employment prospects is another important component of the plan. Additionally, the ABVP manifesto for DUSU elections pledges to expand scholarships for OBC, SC, and ST students, thereby guaranteeing greater financial assistance for underprivileged populations.

In terms of student welfare, it includes a proposal to adjust the Dearness Allowance (DA) and offer discounted metro passes for all students, helping to ease their daily commute costs. These initiatives collectively aim to enhance the academic environment and offer better opportunities for students across various sectors.

ABVP’s DUSU presidential candidate, Rishabh Chaudhary, shared the party’s key goals, emphasising the introduction of a ‘One Course, One Fee’ structure for postgraduate programs. He highlighted plans to establish modern reading rooms equipped with advanced technology in every college, along with ensuring the availability of campus-wide Wi-Fi to improve student access to resources.

ABVP’s vice-presidential candidate, Bhanu Pratap Singh, emphasised the party’s commitment to improving students’ vocational preparedness. ABVP aims to close the skills gap between education and employment by focussing on skill development and industry-orientated courses.

It’s worth noting that ABVP has a strong track record in DUSU elections, having won three central panel posts in the previous elections. Their victory reflects the young generation’s faith in the ideology that puts national interest first.
