What is the LIC AAO exam?

LIC AAO’s full form is Life Insurance Corporation Assistant Administrative Officer. The LIC AAO (Assistant Administrative Officer) exam is conducted by the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) to recruit candidates for the position of Assistant Administrative Officer.

LIC AAO is a highly competitive examination, and successful candidates are appointed AAOs in various LIC branches across the country.

What is the LIC?

Life Insurance Corporation of India or LIC India is a public sector insurance and investment company with over 3000 offices and INR 16 lakh crore managed assets. Constituted by an Act of Parliament, it is headquartered in Mumbai, India. It was established on Sep 1, 1956, to provide insurance to every citizen of India.

It now employs nearly 1,14,000 employees and has 6 subsidiaries including IDBI Bank. LIC (Life Insurance Corporation of India) is an autonomous body that conducts this exam.

To apply for the LIC AAO exam 2023, the candidate must be a citizen of India.

  4. Select the button that reads, ‘Click here for New Registration’.

  6. Enter your educational qualifications and fill in the other required fields in the application form.
  7. Recheck the form.
  8. Pay the application fee.
  9. A registration number and password will be generated by the system that you need to note down.
  10. Keep saving every sheet of detail that you are filling.

Candidates can follow the below procedure to download their admit card:

  • Step 1: Go to the official website.
  • Step 2: Find and click on the “Admit Card” link.
  • Step 3: Log in with your credentials and click on “Submit”.
  • Step 4: Your admit card will be available to download on the next screen.

LIC AAO 2023 Exam Pattern

Candidates applying for the post of LIC AAO must have a good idea about the pattern of the Preliminary and Main exams. The LIC AAO recruitment has 3 levels and it is mandatory for students to successfully clear the cut-off of each section to be qualified for the next round.

  • Preliminary: Comprises 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) for 70 Marks
  • Mains: 300 (Objective) + 25 Marks (Descriptive)
  • Personal Interview: 30 Marks

Exam Duration: The duration of the preliminary exam is 60 minutes and the duration of the main exam is 150 minutes i.e., 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Marking Scheme: The Mark awarded for each correct answer in both preliminary and main exams is 1 mark and 0.25 marks are deducted for every incorrect answer. There is no negative marking for the descriptive paper of the main exam. Analyzing the LIC AAO exam pattern can help the candidate prepare well for the exam in advance.

Preliminary Exam Pattern

The preliminary exam consists of 3 sections and the maximum marks are 70. The exam is conducted for 1 hour. There is a sectional time limit of 20 minutes for each section. Candidates equal to 20 times the number of vacancies in each category will be shortlisted for the LIC AAO 2023 main exam.

Mains Exam Pattern

The LIC AAO 2023 Main exam will comprise 120 multiple-choice questions for 300 marks and 2 descriptive questions for 25 marks. Both the objective and descriptive tests are conducted where candidates have to answer the descriptive question by typing on the computer. There is a separate timing for each section.

LIC AAO Exam Syllabus

The LIC AAO exam syllabus helps you to prepare for the exam in a better way. The syllabus is similar to that of any Indian management and banking entrance exams but with a slightly lesser difficulty level. In the preliminary exam, a candidate’s reasoning ability, quantitative aptitude, English language, computer knowledge test, and general knowledge/general awareness will be evaluated.

The syllabus consists of Reasoning, General Knowledge/Awareness, Data Analysis, Interpretation or respective professional knowledge based on the job designation, Insurance, and Financial Market Awareness. And, a descriptive paper on the English language.

Q2. Is the job profile of a LIC AAO similar to that of a Bank PO? How is the work pressure?

The work profile is akin to that of a Bank PO like SBI PO and IBPS SO. Regarding work pressure, it is relatively low in comparison to that of a Bank PO.

Q3. What are the typical working hours for a LIC AAO?

The working hours are from 10 am to 5 pm, with a lunch break of 45 minutes from 1.30 pm to 2.15 pm.

Q4. How many marks is the LIC AAO Interview worth?

The maximum marks for the interview are 60, with qualifying marks set at 30 for EWS, Unreserved, and OBC candidates, and 27 for SC/ST/PwBD candidates. Candidates failing to meet the minimum qualifying marks as stipulated by LIC will be excluded from the subsequent selection process.
