The IELTS exam is a test that is standardised to show the competency of the people in speaking, writing, and reading the English language which is required in countries where the primary language of communication is English. The International English Language Testing System is the full name of the exam. It is generally acknowledged by more than 3000 colleges across the globe for immigration or post-secondary education in nations including Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and Canada.

The four main language skills that are evaluated on the IELTS exam are speaking, listening, reading, and writing. It is administered by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia, and Cambridge Assessment English.IELTS scores range from 0 to 9, and to proceed with the application procedure, you must receive at least 6 bands. IELTS cutoff points differ based on the reason for application.

Eligibility For IELTS Exam 

As far as IELTS eligibility is concerned, anyone can take the exam in 2024, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, nationality, or religion. However, it is not advised for anyone under the age of 16 to take the IELTS exam. IELTS eligibility is defined by institutions and organisations, therefore applicants should confirm the particular requirements of the university, college, or job they are applying to.

IELTS Exam Fee 

The IELTS exam fees depend on where and when you take your IELTS exam. The centres dictate the fees and thus, the local economic conditions can play a significant role in the money one spends on an exam. The cost of the IELTS exam in India is INR 17,000.00. Every time they schedule an IELTS exam, candidates who wish to take the test must pay an IELTS registration fee of INR 17, 000.

Syllabus Of IELTS Exam 

There are four areas in the IELTS syllabus: writing, speaking, listening, and reading. Along with receiving a score in these four areas, students also receive their overall IELTS score.

Listening Module

The Listening section takes only 30 minutes to complete, plus an extra 10 minutes to move your answers onto the answer sheet. It is divided into four parts with a combined number of 40 questions.

Reading Module

The Reading passage, which is an hour long, includes 40 questions whose scope should help assess such skills. For the academic type, the test consists of three texts that include description, arguments, analysis, and research from professional books, journals, magazines, and newspapers

Writing Module

There are two assignments in the writing area. You must summarise, characterise, or elucidate visual data, such as charts and diagrams, for Task 1. Task 2 is an essay in which you answer a specific question by putting forth arguments or sharing your thoughts on a subject.

Speaking Module

The Speaking module evaluates your spoken English usage in 11–14 minutes. It is an in-person interview with an examiner that entails a range of inquiries and assignments.

There are two ways to prepare for IELTS. One is self-study and the other is coaching classes. The method you would choose actually points out your skills and comfort in learning a language.
