Delhi University released the updated academic calendar on Saturday for the new session. According to the schedule, DU first-year classes will begin on August 29, 2024. The UG session 2024-25 was previously scheduled to start on August 1. However, the classes were postponed due to a delay in the CUET result declaration.

According to the schedule, the first semester will now start on August 29 and will disperse on Dec. 24, 2024. As the session commences late, the first year of the UG program this year will end on June 7, 2025. The delay in the commencement of DU first-year classes has led to the speedy wrapping of the semester. The university had also announced weekend classes and shortened the winter breaks. A short mid-break is scheduled from Oct. 27 to Nov. 3, 2024 with the classes resuming on November 4.

Several DU professors and authorities have raised concerns about the delay.  Prof. Mithuraaj Dhusiya is an academic council member of DU. In her opinion, “The CUET-induced delay has messed up DU’s academic calendar. There will be phases in the academic year when classes and exams are simultaneously held.  Shortage of manpower will lead to rerunning the already-failed system of online classes.”

The theory examination of the DU first-year classes will begin on January 6, 2025. The winter break will commence with the last examination before January 25, 2025. The DU first-year classes will have a two-day semester break. As per the calendar, the second semester is set to start on January 27, 2024. With a mid-semester break from March 9 to March 16, the DU first-year classes will resume from March 17. The DU first-year classes for the 2nd-semester will disperse on May 25 ( Sunday). The theory exams will be held between June 7 and June 28 (Saturday). The academic year will wrap up with a summer vacation from June 29 to July 20, 2024.

Candidates can view the full schedule on the official DU website . In this session, the university is offering admission for a total of 79 courses in 69 colleges. The process of Common Seat Allotment System UG counseling has already begun. The CSAS UG counseling consists of 3 phases. Phase 1 is applying to Delhi University. Phase 2 involves filling out programmes and college combinations. And the last phase 3 is the allocation or admission round.

As per the earlier notice, the DU has started the 2nd phase of CSAS UG admission on August 1. Students can enter their choice of college and program until August 7, 2024. The first allotment results will be announced on August 16, 2024.  After completion of the phase 1 , the candidates are required to fill their preferred programs and colleges. Admission to the CSAS first round will be from August 16 to 21. This phase is crucial for finalizing admission preference and accepting the allocated seat. Students must note that the University is conducting admission through the CUET scores.
