Notably, the degrees were enhanced with 17 security features, reflecting the university’s commitment to ensuring the authenticity and integrity of the conferred honours.

Adding a touch of sophistication to their ensemble were the newly designed handloom fabric angvastras, or stoles, that complemented the occasion’s significance. The degree with safety features awarded to the students on this auspicious day was distinguished by the incorporation of 17 security features, underscoring the university’s dedication to upholding the value and credibility of the conferred qualifications.
On Saturday, February 24, 2024, Delhi University celebrated its 100th convocation ceremony, where special degrees with safety features were awarded to more than one lakh students. Notably, these certificates placed significant emphasis on including the names of the students’ mothers.
The university also introduced advanced security features in the certificates, likened to those found on currency notes, to enhance their authenticity and prevent counterfeiting. This unique blend of recognizing maternal identity and incorporating sophisticated security measures marked a distinctive aspect of the milestone convocation event.
The event, according to Sandeep Sharma, a PhD graduate from the history department at DU, was truly historic. “Getting my degree during Delhi University’s 100th convocation ceremony is a dream come true. The university deserves praise for including cutting-edge security measures in the new degrees, which provide us peace of mind regarding the safety and longevity of our credentials.”
Miranda House College teaching staff member Bhavana Bansal Gupta reiterated the praise for the university’s approach. Having obtained her PhD on the occasion, she said, “It’s a unique experience. Students will surely benefit from Delhi University’s efforts in a variety of ways as they strengthen the security of their degree certificates.”
Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar played a key role in overseeing the 100th annual convocation of the university, where he presented degree certificates to the graduating students. Expressing his appreciation for the updates made to the certificates, Dhankhar commended the occasion as a monumental event. Notably, the degree with safety features now incorporates significant enhancements, with a particular focus on including the mother’s name of the student and featuring a coloured photograph of the graduate.
